Home Free - Leamington Sinfonia
In 2023, I was won first place in the junior section of Leamington Sinfonia’s Composition Competition, and the prize was a commission to write a short piece for the orchestra to perform. I was inspired by my hometown of Leamington Spa to write my piece 'Home free'. It was performed live by the orchestra at All Saints Church.
I recorded the piece at the premier using industry-standard microphones and equipment provided by the University of York, capturing the performance in high fidelity.
This project reflects my passion for orchestral writing and the personal connection I bring to my work as a composer.
Down Time - Sound and Music
Down Time is an original jazz piece composed for a sextet featuring drums, baritone sax, alto sax, trumpet, piano, and double bass. The track explores shifting time signatures in 11/8 and modal harmony.
The piece was recorded at AIR Studios and featured on Sound and Music (Vol. 1) — a curated album showcasing a diverse range of composers supported by Sound and Music. All proceeds from the album go toward supporting emerging artists across the UK.
A Trip Down A Dark Alley - Young Composers Project
The Young Composers' Project (YCP) is a community of young creative music-makers in the West Midlands. Based at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, composers Kirsty Devaney and Joe Cutler set up YCP to provide a supportive network where young people can meet and work closely with musicians and composers to have their music performed live.
2019-20 was my second year of participation and I composed for string trio and soprano. My piece ' A Trip Down a Dark Alley' was recorded by all the professional musicians separately due to covid restrictions, but I did the mix. It was showcased as part of their Young Composers Concert that year.
Surveillance - Dance Installation
I composed an 9-minute original score for a contemporary dance performance at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance that combined live movement, projection, and film. The piece explored themes of surveillance, performativity, and societal pressure, blending satire with political commentary.
The score was designed to function both as a performance soundtrack and as part of a wider installation experience. This pushed me to consider how music interacts with movement, space, and evolving narrative forms.
ALDI – Internal Training Video
I composed the original score for an internal training video commissioned by Aldi, designed for all new starters across the company — from warehouse staff and delivery teams to store employees. The video follows the full lifecycle of a product, from its arrival at a national warehouse through to the customer’s car boot, showcasing the scale and efficiency of Aldi’s operations.
With a dynamic, heist-inspired soundtrack, the music was crafted to bring energy and cohesion to the visual journey, mirroring the movement of goods through each stage of the supply chain. The video has been used internally across all 12 distribution centres and over 1,000 stores nationwide, reaching thousands of new employees.
Due to the confidential nature of the content, the video itself remains private.
OFF LICENCE - Drummer & Co-Creator
I’m the drummer for Off Licence, an '80s-inspired new wave indie band blending vintage synths and recording techniques with a modern indie sound. Our music draws influence from artists like Toto, Depeche Mode, The 1975, Bleachers, and Men At Work — built around rich harmonies, virtuosic solos, and space for each instrument to shine.
We’ve performed across the UK, including gigs in London, Leeds, and Newark, with more shows and gigs planned. Our debut album, written and recorded during our time at university, is set for release later this year, and work has already begun on our second.
